LNP AND ALP RUNNING FOR OPPOSITION IN COMING STATE ELECTION
Queensland One Nation leader and Member for Buderim, Steve Dickson MP has accused both major parties of setting themselves a target of winning Opposition at the coming state election.
He said it is unprecedented for neither party to want to win Government.
“LNP leader Tim Nicholls has made it clear he won’t be doing any deals with One Nation and the ALP has taken the same stance.
“I can tell you, they are ignoring their own internal polling which shows that One Nation will be a big part of the make-up of the next Parliament. For them to stick their heads in the sand this way is an insult to voters,” he said.
“One Nation is working to win government at the election and is asking voters to put us first on the ballot paper. With compulsory preferential voting, we will be making recommendations for the Number 2 position on the paper on a seat by seat basis.
“On each such case, we will do so with the best interests of Queensland in mind,” Mr Dickson said.
“What the LNP and ALP are saying about preference deals is akin to the Prime Minister saying before the last Federal election that One Nation wasn’t welcome in the Parliament. Look how successful that was!
“It is that sort of arrogance from the two major Parties that has seen One Nation’s popularity increasing across the State, and we are ready for the election whenever it is called”, he said.
