Surplus Government Assets.

Ask government departments to identify surplus assets as well as inviting locally-initiated proposals for productive use.
Preference local groups who volunteer their time and labour to contribute to their local communities.
Require applicants to assume responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of the asset. Any state and local government charges will be kept to a minimum or waived.

Surplus Government Assets:

Queensland has surplus stock of government-owned land right across the state. These assets could be recycled and put to good use by community groups. Assets such as vacant blocks in towns, disused government buildings, sheds and surplus machinery are deteriorating right across the state. Worthy organisations such as Men’s Sheds, Veteran’s support groups and other well-established, not-for-profit community groups could make productive use of these under-utilised assets.
